Watched the replay of Scott's accident and it has to be by far the worst accident I have ever seen in all the years I've watched drag racing. Prayers
with Scott's family.

I saw the replay too, OMG, that was very bad. I wish that parachute would have opened all the way. Not sure if it was the explosion or the crash that caused
the fatality, but both were bad.

Terrible.... I was watching the qualifying round when this happened. I knew it was bad and you could sense that the ending was tragic. I believe the blower
explosion knocked Scott unconscious and that's why the car never slowed before the massive impact.

You would think there would be some impact barriers or something at the end of a drag strip. But I wouldn't know much about asphalt.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kalitta family, friends, and team. Rest In Peace my friend......... |

ChubzillaFan1 wrote: the way I understand it accident, the car hit a concrete support for the impact barrier... that came from an article including quotes from the Snake, who
also figured that the blower explosion knocked SK unconscious, hence no chute or brakes. I surely hope that was the case, that he didn't see it coming.

Was watching the drags yesterday and the Worsham race team have installed a safety device that in the case of a burst panel blowing the chutes will open. The panel and chutes are on the same cable so when the panel blows off it triggers the chutes. DT |
